The Way Technology Changed Society

Has technology changed human society in the 21st century? There are many technology changes in the United States and around the world. Technology is growing so fast, its hard for the consumer to keep up with all the new gadgets. Cell phones are one of the biggest products on the market. There are unlimited things you can do with a cell phone it is not longer just a phone, but a computer, camera, navigation system, mp3 player and much more.
The cell phone has changed the human society on how we used to do things in the communication world. Years ago people didn’t have cell phones, we just had landlines. The positive things about the cell phone is that you don't have to be at home to use it. We can be anywhere and still call a person. In case of an emergency or something urgent you can always be reached by cell phone. Over one million people in the U.S. are on handheld phones at any given minute in today’s society.
With the positive, there is always a negative impact. People do seem to abuse the cell phone usage, we have young and older people who want to talk or text while driving. Driving while texting or talking can cause an accident or even death. I have read in the Prescott paper, and also heard on TV. about a teenager who was texting while driving and was in a fatal accident losing her life.
A lot of states are talking about banning all phone usage while operating a motor vehicle as it is not safe at all to do. People who talk or text simply don’t realize how dangerous it really is until it is too late.
Cell phones have good and bad qualities, but have more good points than bad. If a person uses a cell phone wisely it is a positive for all of us. People just need to realize not to abuse the use of cell phones and we will all be safer.
