The class I would say has definitely been different. When I started looking at our assignments I had come across the one assignment saying we would have to do five blogs to complete from this class in order to get credit. I really have never heard of the term blogging before. I had to actually ask my son who knows all about computers "What is blogging?" So he explained it to me I actually enjoyed blogging as the questions and answers really made a person think why and how a person believes in what they believe in. I like that the blogging assignments were clear and precise as the teacher did not assume that everyone knew how to format and write a blog. The rubic chart really helped in setting up my blog paper as I did not have to guess at what I needed to add to my blog. Overall the class has been exciting and learning how to plot a blog as this was new to me.
The blog assignments did relate to the class topics and course objectives because there was a lot of critical thinking involved in the questions that were asked. For instance, one of the blogs that a person could have chosen was "Why do human beings believe in things that are not (or cannot) be proven?" This was very argumentative as everyone has different opinions on the subject matters. There are no right or wrong answers to the question as it is up to a person's belief not actual facts. The subject that a person could pick did relate to this course as critical thinking and that was the key. Blogging is an on-line journal so you can have an opinion on the questions asked.
Yes, I believe the non text elements did contribute to my learning in this class because reading all the time gets so boring after awhile. I really enjoyed the videos and the combination versus just straight text. The Youtube programs were some of my favorites to watch, especially the super bowl commercial, my favorite one there was the snickers commercial with Betty White in it. Overall I learned a great deal on critical thinking as some of my views changed due to the class assignments, it woke my brain up to think outside the box and not just assume the obvious.
